He came to Veszprém for the first Hungarian concert of his career, and now, after 8 years, Gregory Porter, one of the greatest global jazz stars of the last decade, is returning to the city of queens. Porter is a global phenomenon, one of the few artists able to bring contemporary jazz to the masses.
His first album released in 2010, Water, was nominated for a Grammy, while his third album released in 2014, Liquid Spirit won a Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album, a feat repeated in 2015 with Take Me To The Alley. Porter has also enjoyed double success at the JazzFM Awards, winning the International Jazz Artist of the Year award for the second time in 2015.
In addition to his solo concerts in the US and Europe, he regularly appears as a guest on other artists’ albums, and is one of the most sought-after jazz singers of our time. In 2019 he launched his own podcast series called “The Hang”, in which he talks with a number of celebrity guests about life, art and fashion, and in 2023 he featured in a six-episode cooking series entitled “The PorterHouse with Gregory Porter”, in which he shared his culinary experiences from his tours and his own family cooking traditions.
His latest album, Still Rising, was released on 5 November, and the two-disc set celebrates a decade of unbroken success. The collection of 34 songs includes brand new compositions, covers, duets and previous big hits.
