A multi-ethnic band, they perform their songs in 25 languages. Founded in Portland in 1994 by American pianist Thomas Lauderdale, they aim to combine classical, jazz, Latin and pop music to create a unique sound. 

Their debut single, “Sympathique (Je ne veux pas travailler)”, was released in 1997 and became an instant hit. They made their European debut at the Cannes Film Festival in the same year. Since its release, the debut song has been played 82 million times on the band’s Spotify platform. 

They have released 16 albums so far in their career on their own independent label, Heinz Records, named after Lauderdale’s dog.

In their concerts, they often collaborate with symphony orchestras, which only enriches their performances. To date, they have performed with over seventy major orchestras, including the BBC Concert Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall. They played at the grand opening of the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the opening of the renovated Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Hollywood Bowl, the Kennedy Center, the 80th Academy Awards, and have toured the world with their concerts. 

In 2014, they were inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame and the Oregon Music Hall of Fame.
