"What is white and black in American jazz, is disappeared folk culture and modern urban spirit here at present. These two entwine in Mihály Dresch's band's sound. Some kind of miraculous balance radiates from the Dresch Quartet 's play. Old dance rhythms and tunes lacking any artificialness come to life, with the help of outstanding musicality. The drum and saxophone which is conventional in jazz, opposed by the dulcimer which is familiar to Hungarian ears, and linking all these together is the double bass."
